Happy Easter! Nothing beats joy, especially the joy of Easter. Easter embodies the essence of our mission - to be a prophetic voice, announcing the message of Jesus Christ's resurrection and the promise of eternal life. In a world often marred by strife and uncertainty, Easter serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the transformative power of faith and the triumph of light over darkness.

On Monday of Holy Week, Pope Francis had a message for young people and within in it he said,

“In 1984, at the end of that Jubilee Year, Saint John Paul II Consigned the WYD Cross to young people and gave them the mission of carrying it to the entire world as a sign and reminder that in Jesus alone, crucified and risen, do we find salvation and redemption. As you know very well, that was a plain wooden cross, not a crucifix, precisely in order to remind us that it celebrates the victory of the Resurrection,

the triumph of life over death. To everyone, it says: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen” ( Lk 24:5). See Jesus in this same way: as alive and overflowing with joy, the victor over death, a friend who loves you and wants to live in you.” Full message here.

Amidst the challenges we face, both individually and collectively, Easter calls us to trust in God's divine plan and to embrace the peace that surpasses all understanding. It is a time to renew our commitment to spreading the message of love and redemption, igniting hearts with the same joy that filled the disciples on that glorious morning.

The NET Missionaries carry this message of hope and renewal into our communities, embodying the spirit of joy that overflows and comes from knowing Jesus Christ's victory over sin and death. Together, let us continue to shine brightly as witnesses to the transformative power of the resurrection.

MX MISSION - TEAM DARWIN

Our team hit the road running, with full days and lots of travelling. Within weeks we drove from Darwin to Alice springs, actively engaging with students in several schools. We were fortunate enough to visit Santa Teresa, an indigenous Catholic community and visited the school and students. After a couple of weeks in Alice Springs we headed back to Darwin. Upon return, we have had the opportunity to be a part of a number of retreats, youth groups and a lot of classroom ministry. Life is very different in Darwin and Alice Springs to that of our lives before serving on team with NET Ministries.

We have experienced challenges and have had to adapt to a number of different circumstances. In the midst of this, we have learnt to not stress and live out of fear, but to rely on each other as a team and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We have found that when we do this that peace and joy comes when we trust in him.  Through this we are witnesses of hope which overflows by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for your prayers and support for us and the young people of Darwin!

God Bless, NET Darwin (Chris, Marley, Kaiya, Josh & Grace)

Renewing Catholic Schools

A Current of Grace - Renewing Catholics Schools as Centres of Evangelisation
An invitation is extended to Australian and international Catholic education and other Church leaders to a conference focused on renewing Catholic schools as centres of evangelisation, emphasising two high-impact strategies – leader and teacher formation and student formation for peer-to-peer ministry.

The Conference extends a special welcome to Bishops, Catholic Education Directors, and their education leaders, Religious Institutes, Ministerial Public Juridical Persons (MPJPs), School Boards, Parent Educators, Clergy and Movements involved with Catholic schools.

Please consider registering for the Oceania Evangelisation Program on Pentecost Sunday (19 May). There is no cost for Conference delegates.

Oceania Evangelisation Program

The Oceania Evangelisation Program (OEP) was first conducted in 2022 at Pentecost. In 2023 over one thousand leaders participated in Hubs across the Oceania region. Both have been powerful experiences of the Holy Spirit inspiring and revitalising leaders and enabling a collaborative vision for evangelisation across the Oceania region.

The OEP is conducted as a partnership between CSYMI (Catholic Schools Youth Ministry International) and St Benedict’s Mission Centre (an outreach of the Missionaries of God’s Love), the ACU La Salle Academy, the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn and NET Ministries Australia & New Zealand.

Theme Scripture

Our theme scripture for 2024 comes from Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans, and we experience it daily as we witness our NET teams living lives that are quite simply overflowing with the Hope of the Gospel message. Please join us in prayer, that the young people of Darwin, Hamilton, Auckland and Maroochydore would experience the Hope our teams bring in their own lives.
